Nissan reports February 2022 sales in China

Both PV and LCV businesses driving up the sales

BEIJING (March 3, 2022) – Nissan’s passenger vehicle and light commercial vehicle sales in China increased 2.5% in February 2022 over the same period last year to 77,494 units, as a result of the week-long traditional Chinese New Year holidays coupled with the external headwinds, including ongoing COVID disruptions and cross-industry shortages.

Sales by passenger vehicle businesses (Nissan, Venucia and Infiniti brands) in the same period reached 63,688 units, a 1.5% decline year on year, while the light commercial vehicle business of Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. (DFAC) and Zhengzhou Nissan (ZNA) rose 25.7% in February to 13,806 units.

In the past two months of 2022, Nissan has sold a total 210,961 vehicles in China, a decline of 4.9%, while the passenger vehicle business sales stood at 175,021 vehicles. The LCV business sold 35,940 vehicles, a 13.8% increase.

Nissan reports retail sales for PV and wholesale sales for LCV

“Our passenger vehicle and light commercial vehicle businesses started with a strong February despite a long holiday and on-going challenges, and laid a solid foundation for 2022,” said Shohei Yamazaki, senior vice president of Nissan, chairman of the Management Committee for China, and president of Dongfeng Motor Ltd. (DFL)

He said the market remains robust from a long-term point of view despite “short-term uncertainties and intensified competition.”

“We are extremely pleased with the continuously robust performance of Nissan Altima, Qashqai and Venuica V-online, the growing consumer and dealer interest in the all-new Nissan X-trail, e-POWER Sylphy, and the excitement around the newly-launched, all-new Infiniti QX60,” he added. The wholesale business for the Nissan and Venucia brands alone in February reached 85,391 vehicles, a 48.6% increase year on year, while year to date the wholesale business achieved 211,460 vehicles, an 18% increase on year.

   ?    Nissan’s LCV sales in China increased 25.7% year on year in February to 13,806 vehicles. DFAC’s February sales increased 22.9% to 10,349 vehicles while Zhengzhou Nissan’s February sales increased 35.3% year on year to 3,457 vehicles.

   ?    Dongfeng Nissan’s performance in February was driven by its sedan and SUV series across Nissan, Venucia and Infiniti brands.

        ?   For Nissan Sedans, Nissan Altima sold 10,268 units in February, an increase of 37.2% year on year that broke its February sales record; the Nissan Sylphy series sold 28,519 (including e-POWER Sylphy) in February.

        ?   For Nissan SUVs, the sales volume of the SUV series reached 18,289 units in February (including Nissan, Venucia and Infiniti brands). Qashqai sold 9,743 units in February,an increase of 7.6% year-on-year and broke its best February sales records.

        ?   Venucia’s February sales were boosted mainly by the Venucia V-online (3,041 vehicles), D60 series (1,097 vehicles), and EV families (2,273 units).

        ?   Infiniti’s February sales were driven mainly by the QX50 and Q50L. The all-new QX60, officially launched on Feb. 28, is set to enhance offerings to Chinese customers passionate for a premium brand from Nissan.

   ?    DFAC’s performance from January to February was driven mainly by its light-duty truck series.

   ?    Zhengzhou Nissan’s February sales continued to be driven by the Nissan Navara and Dongfeng Rich-brand pickup series (2,490), a 14.5% increase year on year.
