BEIJING (January 6, 2022) – Nissan’s passenger vehicle and light commercial vehicle businesses in China declined by 5.2% in 2021 over the previous year to 1,381,494 units because of external headwinds, including the ongoing pandemic and cross-industry shortages.
Sales by passenger vehicle businesses (Nissan and Venucia brands) in the same period reached 1,134,889 units, a 6.4% decline year on year, while the light commercial vehicle business of Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. (DFAC) and Zhengzhou Nissan (ZNA) boosted sales 7.8% in the last 12 months to 234,309 units.
Nissan’s passenger vehicle and light commercial vehicle businesses in China saw a year-on-year monthly decline of 20.8% in December to 133,803 units, however, a 17% increase month over month.
Nissan’s passenger vehicle business (Nissan and Venucia brands) sold 114,093 units in December, an 18% increase month over month. Key models including the Nissan Altima, Sylphy, Qashqai and the SUV series, along with the Venucia D60, T60, Star, V-online and EV series, continued to contribute to sales in December.
Sales for the light commercial vehicle business of Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. (DFAC) and Zhengzhou Nissan (ZNA) declined 15.9% year-on-year in December to 18,625 units.

Nissan reports retail sales for PV and wholesale sales for LCV
“With an enhanced focus on quality of sales, we have achieved our goals and targets in 2021 despite multiple challenges including, but not limited to, the COVID-19 pandemic, price hikes in raw materials and the IC shortage,” said Shohei Yamazaki, senior vice president of Nissan, Chairman of the Management Committee for China, and president of Dongfeng Motor Ltd. (DFL).
“It is extremely thrilling and rewarding to see the passion and enthusiasm of our partners, dealers and customers towards our electrified product lineup, including the first e-POWER model – Nissan e-POWER Sylphy - Venucia D60EV and T60EV, as well as the Venucia V-online and all new Infiniti QX60,” said Yamazaki.
Additionally, Yamazaki said that, while watching the TIV closely amid continued uncertainties in 2022, the company is accelerating its strategies in electrification, autonomous driving, connectivity, and shared mobility in China through investment and partnerships.

For Nissan Sedans, Nissan Altima sold 20,008 units in December, an increase of 24.8% year on year, besting all December sales records; SYLPHY series sold 50,492 in December, an increase of 18.6% month on month. From January to December, Nissan Altima sold 163,741 units, an increase of 38.7% year on year, topping prior best annual sales records. SYLPHY series sold 513,193 units from January to December.

? Venucia’s December sales were boosted mainly by the Venucia V-online (7,008 vehicles), D60 series (2,537 vehicles), T60 (1,621 vehicles), Venucia Star (1,549 vehicles) and EV families (4,033 units). Venucia sold a total of 87,816 vehicles in 2021, a 11.6% increase year on year.
? Dongfeng Infiniti’s December sales were driven mainly by the QX50 and Q50L. The all-new QX60, with pre-sales started in mid-December, will further enhance offerings to Chinese customers enthusiastic for the Infiniti brand.
? DFAC’s performance in 2021 was driven mainly by its light-duty truck series, with total sales of 155,366 vehicles, a 3.68% increase year-on-year, including CAPT (21,252), Duolika (64,255), Tuyi (15,745), Xiaobawang (30,696) and Furuika (23,370). DFAC also sold 14,207 NEVs throughout 2021, a 70.78% increase year on year.
? Zhengzhou Nissan’s December sales continued to be driven by the Nissan Navara (666 vehicles) and Dongfeng Rich-brand pickup series (3,039). In the past 12 months, ZNA has sold 51,821 units, a 16.0% increase year on year.
